With less than a year to go until Southgate opens its doors, our first classroom blocks are steadily taking shape, and the campus that once existed only in blueprints is now something families can walk through.

The first phase of construction has focused on Early Years and Junior Prep classrooms, designed to give younger students bright, purpose-built spaces suited to how they learn best. They are bright, naturally lit spaces with outdoor-adjacent play areas for younger students, and flexible, reconfigurable layouts for Junior Prep.

Beyond the classrooms themselves, work is also progressing on the shared spaces where students will gather between lessons, corridors, courtyards, and common areas designed to encourage the kind of everyday community that becomes a school’s character over time.

“It’s one thing to see a school on paper. It’s another to walk through a classroom that used to be a blueprint and realise, this is real now. Every wall going up is a promise we’re keeping to the families joining us in January.”

Project Lead, Southgate Preparatory School

Construction remains on track for Southgate’s January 2027 opening, with the remaining phases: sports facilities, boarding houses, agriculture spaces, etc. progressing alongside the classroom blocks.

We’ll continue sharing campus updates as construction progresses, from first classrooms to first ribbon-cutting.
