Two Curricula. One Standard Of Excellence
A Dual Pathway,
Built for Every Future
Southgate Preparatory School offers a dual curriculum education, preparing students for both the ZIMSEC and Cambridge examination pathways. This gives families genuine flexibility, a strong local grounding alongside a globally recognised qualification, taught by an experienced and diverse team of educators recruited specifically for their expertise across both systems.
Our teaching philosophy centres on small class sizes, individual attention and a genuine love of learning. Rather than teaching to a test, our educators are trained to nurture curiosity, critical thinking and confidence, i.e. the foundations that carry students successfully through both ZIMSEC and Cambridge assessments and beyond.

A Path for Every Stage
From first steps in Pre-Pep to leadership in Senior Prep, each stage is designed to build on the last.
Early Years/ Pre-Pep
Our earliest learners are introduced to structured, play based learning that builds foundational literacy, numeracy and social skills in a nurturing, closely supervised environment. Through guided play, storytelling, music and early literacy and numeracy activities, our youngest learners build the confidence and foundational skills they need for the more structured years ahead, all within a warm, closely supervised setting.
Junior Prep
Junior Prep students build on early foundations with a broadening curriculum, developing independence, curiosity and strong academic habits under the guidance of specialist teachers. Subjects span mathematics, languages, sciences, humanities and creative arts, delivered by specialist teachers who bring both expertise and enthusiasm to every lesson. Students are encouraged to ask questions, take initiative and develop the study habits that will serve them for life.
Senior Prep
Senior Prep students are prepared rigorously for ZIMSEC and Cambridge assessments, with a curriculum that balances academic depth with leadership development ahead of secondary education. In addition to rigorous academic preparation, Senior Prep students take on leadership roles within the school, i.e. mentoring younger students, leading clubs, and representing Southgate in sport, the arts and our agricultural programme — building the confidence and character needed for secondary school and beyond.
Learning That
Continues Outside
the Classroom
Beyond the classroom, students engage in a structured programme of clubs, sport, the arts and agricultural learning, i.e. designed to build well rounded, capable young people ready to lead.
Every student participates in at least one club, one sporting code and one aspect of our agricultural programme each term, ensuring a genuinely well rounded experience rather than a narrow academic focus.
Measured in Outcomes, and in Character
As a newly established school, Southgate Preparatory School is built around small class sizes, an experienced faculty and a rigorous dual curriculum standard, giving every student the individual attention needed to thrive academically from day one.
We measure success not only in examination outcomes, but in the confidence, curiosity and character our students carry forward. Regular assessment, detailed reporting to parents, and close teacher student relationships ensure that progress, academic and personal, is tracked and celebrated every step of the way.
Every Child Learns
Differently
We recognise that every child learns differently. Our teaching team includes dedicated learning support staff who work closely with classroom teachers to identify and support each student's individual needs. From tailored learning plans to small group intervention and close collaboration with parents, our approach ensures that every child, regardless of learning style or pace, is given the tools to succeed.
