Zambia: SC 647 is a medium-maturing white maize variety that reaches maturity in approximately 128-135 days. It produces white, semi-flint grain and has a yield potential of 11-12 tonnes per hectare, equivalent to approximately 220-240 × 50 kg bags. SC 647 has tolerance to Grey Leaf Spot, Northern Corn Leaf Spot and Maize Streak Virus and has very good tolerance to Diplodia. It combines very good drought tolerance with very good standability. Its uses include summer grain, cattle stover and silage, winter green maize and winter silage.
