Malawi: SC 665 Mkango is a medium-maturing maize hybrid maturing in approximately 128 days. It produces white, hard-dent grain and has a yield potential of 10 tonnes per hectare, equivalent to approximately 200 × 50 kg bags. The brochure describes it as having excellent GLS and cob rot tolerance. It is suitable for summer grain and silage and is matched to Zones 3, 4 and 5.
Nigeria: SC 665 is a medium-maturing white maize variety with a maturity period of approximately 100-110 days. It produces white, dent grain and has a yield potential of 10-12 tonnes per hectare. It is adapted to Guinea and Sudan Savanna ecologies. SC 665 has good standability, excellent husk cover and high grain yield. It is tolerant to maize streak virus, leaf blight and Curvularia leaf spot. Its recommended seed rate is 25 kg per hectare.
